According to US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, the US Coast Guard began operations at 2 am. The first tanker, Bella-1, was seized in the North Atlantic, while the second tanker, Sofia, was seized in the Caribbean Sea. Both these ships were parked in Venezuela or were heading towards Russia with banned oil.

According to reports, Britain also supported America in carrying out this mission and provided its land. That means the US Army used British airports to capture the tanker. When Russian tankers were passing between Iceland and Britain, Britain’s Royal Air Force gave accurate information to America.

Andrei Klichus, a senior Russian lawmaker from the ruling United Russia party, described the US actions as open robbery, according to the TASS state news agency. Russian state broadcaster RT showed a photo of a helicopter hovering near Marinara and said it looked as if US forces were trying to board the US-sanctioned tanker, which was abandoned.

Experts believe that this is the first time in recent times that the US military has tried to seize a Russian-flagged ship.
