Iran-US War Latest News: The Iranian military on Sunday claimed to have shot down an ‘enemy’ F-15 fighter jet off the country’s southern coast and near Hormuz Island with the help of its air defense system. According to Iran’s Fars News Agency, this modern American jet was targeted through a surface-to-air air defense system.
Video released, but not confirmed
Iranian media has also shared a video, claiming that the air defense system successfully locked the F-15 jet. However, this incident has not been confirmed yet by either America or any of its ally countries in the Middle East.

This incident has come to light a few days after Iran claimed that it had attacked America’s F-35 Lightning II. According to a CNN report, US defense officials reported that an F-35 had made an emergency landing. The report also said that the pilot had ejected safely and investigation into the matter was ongoing.
Fourth F-15 incident amid US-Iran tension
This latest incident is said to be the fourth incident involving F-15 during the US-Iran tension that has been going on in the last four weeks. On 1 March, three F-15E ‘Strike Eagle’ jets were accidentally shot down by Kuwait’s air defense systems in separate incidents. According to CENTCOM, these incidents occurred accidentally during the operation.
KC-135 plane crash also mentioned
In addition to the F-15 and F-35, the US military earlier reported that a refueling aircraft KC-135 Stratotanker had also crashed. The accident occurred after an unidentified incident involving two aircraft, which occurred in Allied airspace.
