Iran Israel War Day 6: The increasing tension between Iran and Israel now seems to be spreading throughout the Middle East region. There have been reports of incidents related to drones and missiles in many countries including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Syria and Iraq. At some places military bases were targeted, while at some places there were reports of explosions around airports and ports. However, in many cases it is still not clear who is behind these attacks.
If not Iran then who attacked Muslim countries?
Iran has rejected many allegations, saying that false attacks are being shown in its name. Tehran has described some incidents as “false flag” i.e. actions taken under false pretenses, whose purpose may be to increase tension in the region. Let us understand the different incidents.
1- Azerbaijan Drone Incident: Drone fell near the airport
Azerbaijan alleged that two drones were shot down near the airport in its Nakhchivan area. According to officials, these drones had come from the direction of Iran and two civilians have been injured in this incident. After this incident, Azerbaijan accused Iran of drone attack. However, Iran clearly denied this allegation. Iran issued a statement saying that its military has not sent any drones towards Azerbaijan and that it respects Azerbaijan’s sovereignty.
2- Oman Drone Incident: News of drone falling in Dhofar and Salalah
According to Oman’s government news agency, two drones were shot down by security forces in South Dhofar area. A drone fell near Salalah port. There is no news of any injury or loss in this incident. Some media reports claimed that these drones may be related to Iran. But Iran declared these reports completely wrong. The headquarters of the Iranian army said that Oman is its friend and neighbor and there was no military attack on it.
3- Turkey Missile Alert: NATO stopped ballistic missile
On March 4, the Turkish Defense Ministry reported that NATO air and missile defense systems intercepted a ballistic missile. This missile was moving towards Turkish airspace. After this incident the question arose that from which country was the missile launched? Accusations were made against Iran, but these allegations were rejected by issuing an official statement from Iran. Iran clearly said that it did not launch any missile towards Türkiye and it respects Türkiye’s sovereignty.
4- Cyprus Drone Attack: ‘False flag’ claim after attack on British airbase
On March 2, a drone attack took place on the British Royal Air Force airbase in Akrotiri, Cyprus. After this, some reports claimed that this attack could be related to Iran. However, Iran rejected this allegation outright. Tehran says that this could be a ‘false flag’ operation, the purpose of which is to further increase tension in the region.
