There has been news of a passenger plane being destroyed during Israeli air strikes in southern Iran. According to the report, a passenger plane of Iran Air was targeted at Bushehr Airport. Iranian media reported that the plane was destroyed on the ground in the attack on the airport. However, it is not clear whether the aircraft was in service at the time of the attack or not. These incidents have come to light at a time when Israel is continuously attacking different targets in Iran.
Concern increased regarding Bushehr nuclear plant
Bushehr, on the Persian Gulf coast, is also home to Iran’s only active nuclear power plant. In such a situation, after this attack, concerns regarding this plant have increased. Meanwhile, Russia’s state nuclear company Rosatom has announced to stop construction work on new units of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. Company head Alexey Likhachev said that work at the construction sites of the plant’s second and third units has been stopped for the time being.
Mehrabad airport also under attack
Mehrabad International Airport, one of Iran’s major airports, has also been affected by the attacks. According to the report, the area around this airport located west of Tehran was attacked. The pictures showed smoke rising behind the runway.
Airstrike on the Assembly of Experts building in Qom
Israel carried out an airstrike in the city of Qom amid the process of electing a new Supreme Leader in Iran. According to the Times of Israel report, the Assembly of Experts building, where senior religious leaders had gathered, was targeted. The Assembly of Experts is a body of 88 members, which is responsible for selecting the Supreme Leader of the country. The building has been heavily damaged in the attack, but official information regarding the number of people present inside has not been revealed.
