Iran-Israel War: Due to increasing tension and security concerns in the Middle East, the England Cricket Board has taken a big decision. After the attacks on Iran by America and Israel, Iran is continuously retaliating by launching missile attacks, which has affected the entire Middle East including the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Due to which some teams that were out of the T20 World Cup have not been able to return to their homes yet. At the same time, now the England Cricket Board has decided to withdraw its team from UAE.
Big decision of England Cricket Board
The England and Wales Cricket Board has completely canceled the England Lions tour of UAE and the England women’s team will no longer have a training camp in Abu Dhabi. The England Lions team was playing a five-match ODI series against Pakistan Shaheen in Abu Dhabi. The second match of the series had already been cancelled. Now the remaining three matches have also been cancelled. The ECB has immediately started arrangements to bring the players and staff back to Britain safely. The team present in Abu Dhabi is facing travel related problems, because due to this war, flights at the airports are also affected.
Similarly, the England women’s team was planning a training camp in Abu Dhabi to prepare for the T20 World Cup to be held in Britain in June-July. But in view of the instability in the Gulf region, the ECB has completely canceled this camp. The board has started work on another plan so that the women’s team can achieve the target of its preparation. Update about the new scheme will be given soon.
A total of 4 matches played between the two teams
A total of 3 T20 and 5 ODI matches were to be played on this tour between the teams of England Lions and Pakistan Shaheen, which was to end on 9 March. The tour started with the T20 series, in which the England team won 3-0. Then he started with a win in the ODI series also. But before the second ODI, tension increased in the Middle East and the remaining matches could not be played.
