Iran-Israel-US war LIVE updates: Iran reopens Strait of Hormuz amid Lebanon ceasefire, warns of fresh closure

New Delhi: Iran reopened the Strait of Hormuz on Friday after a ceasefire deal in Lebanon, signalling cautious optimism around potential peace talks. However, Tehran made it clear that the vital shipping route could be shut again if the United States continues its naval blockade of Iranian ports.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on social media that the narrow but strategically critical waterway would remain accessible to all commercial vessels during the 10-day truce brokered by the US. The ceasefire agreement, finalised on Thursday, follows Israel’s military action in Lebanon after the Iran-backed Hezbollah group entered the conflict.
