Iran-Israel conflict: Amid escalation of tensions, CBSE postpones board exams in Middle East | Details

New Delhi: Amid escalations of tensions in the Middle East, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday canceled all Class X and XII board exams. These exams were scheduled to be held from March 6 to March 11.

Adding that the revised schedule would be announced later, the board also added that the mode of declaration of results for Class X candidates will be notified separately. Tensions have increased in the Middle East ever since the US and Israel conducted a joint operation on Iran, killing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

What did CBSE say in the notification?

“All examinations scheduled from 07.03.2026 to 11.03.2026 stand cancelled. Examinations scheduled on 02.03.2026, 05.03.2026, and 06.03.2026, which were earlier postponed, shall also stand cancelled,” the notification said.

It added, “The mode of declaration of results for Class X candidates in the Middle East will be notified separately in due course.” The board also said that it will further review the situation on Saturday.

Board to review the situation on Saturday

“ The Board will review the situation on Saturday, 07 March 2026 and issue appropriate directions regarding examinations scheduled from Monday, 09 March 2026 onwards”, the board said regarding Class XII board exams. The CBSE further said, “All Class XII students are advised to remain in close contact with their schools and follow official announcements carefully”.

Issuing a similar letter on March 3, the board had said, “The Board will review the situation on Thursday, 05 March 2026, and take appropriate decisions about examinations scheduled from 07 March onwards. All students are advised to stay in touch with their schools for updates and follow official announcements carefully.”
