iQOO 15R Confirmed To Get 4 Years Of Android OS Updates And 6 Years Of Security Updates

The iQOO 15R’s launch date has already been confirmed for February 24. Now, ahead of that debut, iQOO has shared one of the most important details buyers look for today: how long the phone will be supported.

Android 16 Out Of The Box, With 4 OS Updates Promised

iQOO has confirmed that the iQOO 15R will ship with OriginOS 6 based on Android 16. More importantly, the company has committed to four major Android OS updates. In practical terms, that means the phone is expected to receive updates all the way up to Android 20.

On top of that, iQOO says the 15R will get six years of regular security updates starting from its February 24 launch.

Software Features

Along with the update roadmap, iQOO has also confirmed a few software features.

The iQOO 15R will support One Tap Transfer for both iOS and Android devices, along with Cross-Device File Transfer, Screen Mirroring, and Origin Island. The idea here is simple. Switching phones should take less effort, sharing files shouldn’t feel clunky, and using the phone alongside other screens should feel natural.

Performance Is Built Around A Triple-Chip Setup

Under the hood, iQOO has confirmed that the 15R will use a triple-chip setup. The main processor is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, supported by a dedicated Q2 supercomputing chip for graphics-related tasks and a separate network enhancement chip aimed at improving connectivity stability.

iQOO has also shared some headline performance numbers. The company claims the phone has crossed 3.5 million points on AnTuTu, which is higher than the usual Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 average of around 3.3 million. It has also mentioned a 36 percent CPU performance improvement and a 46 percent gain in NPU performance compared to the previous generation.

Two Distinct Design Options At Launch

On the design side, iQOO has now confirmed two colour options for the 15R. One is the blue checkered texture finish that appeared earlier on the Amazon microsite. The other is the newly revealed Dark Knight variant, which uses a deep black finish for a more understated look.

Expected Pricing

iQOO hasn’t announced the official price yet, but the Amazon microsite hints that the iQOO 15R could be priced under ₹55,000. If that turns out to be accurate, it would place the phone below ultra-premium flagships while still firmly in the high-performance category.
