IPL’s leading scorer Virat Kohli reaches 9000 runs

New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bengaluru talisman Virat Kohli completed 9000 runs in their IPL 2026 match on Monday, becmng the first batter to do so and extending his position as the leading scorer in the tournament.

The former RCB skipper needed only 11 runs to reach the landmark and he did it during RCB’s 76-run chase at the Arun Jaitley stadium.

Before the DC clash, Kohli has amassed 8,989 runs at an average of 39.95 and a strike rate of 133.76 with the help of 66 half centuries and eight hundreds, the most by any batter in IPL history.

In the ongoing 2026 edition, the opener has been in stellar form with 328 runs in seven matches, at an average of 54.66 and a strike rate of 162.18.
