IPL 2026 Points Table After RCB vs CSK

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and sent Royal Challengers Bengaluru to bat first at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The decision might have seemed right at first, as RCB were not able to hit a single boundary in the first three overs. However, the five-time champions would soon regret their decision as the defending champs would turn the tide completely with their incredible batting display and post a massive score of 250/3 in 20 overs.
After the departure of RCB openers Phil Salt (46 off 30 balls) and Kohli (28 off 18), Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar took charge of the attack and put together an incredible 58-run partnership off just 21 balls. Padikkal got out after scoring 50 runs off 29 balls.

However, Patidar continued the attack from the other end and was joined by Tim David, who became CSK’s biggest nightmare in this match. They joined a game-changing 99-run partnership off just 35 balls for the fourth wicket following Padikkal’s dismissal. The Australian superstar smashed the CSK bowlers all over the field and returned back to the dugout with a score of 70 not out off just 25 balls. Meanwhile, captain Patidar made a crucial contribution as well by scoring 48 not out off 19

CSK, who finished at the last spot in the 2025 edition, got off to the worst start possible in this mountain of a chase. They lost their skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (7 off 3 balls), in the first over itself to Jacob Duffy. Then Bhuvneshwar Kumar removed Ayush Mhatre on the second ball of the second over to complete his 200th IPL wicket. Things got worse when Jacob Duffy struck again in the third over and dismissed Sanju Samson (9 off 5 balls). CSK’s top order was back in the dugout after the first three overs itself.
Sarfaraz Khan did show valiant efforts with his 50-run knock of just 25 balls, and later some hits from Prashan Veer (43 off 29) did increase the visitors’ morale, but it was just not enough. Six of their batters got out after scoring single-digit scores. Jamie Overton smashed a quickfire 37 off just 16 balls with a strike rate of 231.25 in the end, but it was all in RCB’s court by then as they registered a massive 43-run win. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of the bowlers with 3/41. Meanwhile, Jacob Duffy, Abhinandan Singh, and Krunal Pandya got two wickets each and Suyash Sharma settled with one.
