Ben Duckett in IPL Auction 2026: Delhi Capitals team played a big bet in IPL 2026 mini auction. Delhi bought a player who had refused to play for this team last season. However, this time he bid on the same player in the auction and made him a part of his squad. The 19th season of IPL will be the debut season for this player, before which he was never bought in the auction. This player has experience of playing more than 200 T20 matches.
Delhi Capitals’ big bet
In the mini auction of IPL 2026, Delhi Capitals took an interesting decision and included England’s aggressive opener and wicketkeeper-batsman Ben Duckett in their team. Duckett was bought for the base price i.e. Rs 2 crore, because no other team entered the bidding. This purchase is also special because last season Delhi Capitals had offered Ben Duckett to join the team, but then this English player had refused.

After Harry Brook was out of IPL 2025, DC tried to sign Duckett as a replacement player. However, Duckett rejected that offer. This was revealed by former England captain Michael Vaughan. But this time Delhi Capitals bought this player in the auction itself. Even in the mega auction of IPL 2025, Duckett’s base price was Rs 2 crore, but then no team bid on him and he remained unsold. Duckett’s aggressive batting and wicket-keeping skills can strengthen Delhi’s top order, especially to provide fast starts in the powerplay.
Ben Duckett’s T20 career
Ben Duckett has played 216 matches so far in his T20 career. During this period, he has scored 5397 runs at an average of 30.49. He has played 34 half-century innings in T20. Out of these, he has played 20 matches for the England team. In which 527 runs have been scored at a strike rate of 153.64.
