The auction for IPL 2026 will be held in December. Before this, all the teams have to submit the list of retained and released players to the IPL Governing Council by 15th November. In such a situation, the hustle and bustle between all the teams has intensified and major changes are being seen in the squad under the trade window. Mumbai Indians have surprised everyone by making two cash deals one after the other. After purchasing experienced Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur from Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai has added another player to its squad.
Another deal done by Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians have taken maximum advantage of the trade window before IPL 2026. After Shardul Thakur, he has also included West Indies all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford in his team. The special thing is that they have not released any of their players for this trade also. That means this is also a cash deal. Sherfane Rutherford was a part of Gujarat Titans last season. But he is now ready to play for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2026 season after a successful trade from Gujarat Titans.
Rutherford, who was bought by Gujarat Titans for a fee of Rs 2.6 crore, will join Mumbai Indians at his current fee. The special thing is that Sherfane Rutherford is returning to Mumbai Indians after 6 years. He was a part of this team in the year 2020, but he did not get a chance to play. Sherfane Rutherford, who has played 23 matches in IPL, has also been a part of Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders.
Shardul Thakur also joins Mumbai
Mumbai Indians also bought Shardul Thakur in a cash deal before Sherfane Rutherford. For which he spent Rs 2 crore. He was a part of Lucknow Super Giants last season. At the same time, for Shardul it is like a return to Mumbai Indians, because he was the assistant bowler of Mumbai Indians from 2010 to 2012.
