IPL 2026: Sameer Rizvi enters the record books against Mumbai Indians, but Yashasvi Jaiswal falls short

Sameer Rizvi Record Against Mumbai Indians: 22-year-old Sameer Rizvi etched his name in the record books on Saturday, April 4. He scored the second-highest score by an uncapped batsman in IPL history against Mumbai Indians. In the 8th match of IPL 2026, played between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground in Delhi on Saturday, Rizvi scored 90 runs in just 51 balls while chasing the target of 163 runs for the Delhi team.

Yashasvi Jaiswal on top

So far, only one uncapped batsman, Yashasvi Jaiswal, has scored a century against MI. The left-handed batsman scored 124 runs off 62 balls for Rajasthan Royals against Mumbai at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 30, 2023. Jaiswal, who has now played for India in all three formats of the game, was an uncapped player at the time. He made his India debut against the West Indies in July 2023.

Sameer Rizvi’s 90-run innings on Saturday also helped him reach the third spot on the list of Delhi Capitals batsmen who have scored the most runs against MI in an IPL match. Virender Sehwag holds the record for the highest score for DC against MI in an IPL match. Sehwag scored an unbeaten 95 off 57 balls against Mumbai Indians in Delhi on April 21, 2013. He is followed by England’s Jason Roy, who scored 91 off just 53 balls at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 14, 2018.

Highest score in IPL in DC vs MI match

The overall record for the highest individual score against Mumbai Indians in the IPL is held by South Africa’s AB de Villiers. “Mr. 360 Degrees” scored 133 runs (not out) from just 59 balls for RCB at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 10, 2015.
