IPL 2026: Ravi Bishnoi becomes youngest Indian to reach 200 T20 wickets in GT vs RR clash

New Delhi: Rajasthan Royals (RR) spinner Ravi Bishnoi became the youngest Indian bowler to take 200 T20 wickets in the IPL 2026 clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, April 4.

Bishnoi dismissed Glenn Phillips for 4 runs in the 12th over to reach the milestone. He is also the 19th Indian bowler to reach the feat, and the ninth among spinners. The 25-year-old bowled a googly, and Phillips played a pull shot, but did not get under the shot and miscued it to Jofra Archer at long-on.

He picked up another wicket in the same over by removing Washington Sundar for 4 runs with a googly. Bishnoi made his IPL debut for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2020 match against Delhi Capitals (DC), and bagged 24 wickets across two seasons.

He was then brought by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2022 mega auction and played 4 seasons for them, taking 28 wickets. Bishnoi was signed by RR ahead of the IPL 2026. Overall, he has picked up 81 wickets in the 80 IPL matches, so far.

Bishnoi made his international debut in the T20I series against West Indies in 2022, and has picked 64 wickets in 44 matches. He has taken 57 wickets for Rajasthan in 45 matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Ravi Bishnoi shines as RR beat GT

Rajasthan Royals defeated Gujarat Titans by 6 runs. RR posted 210 runs in the 20 overs after opting to bat first against GT. Dhurv Jurel smashed 75 runs off 42 balls, and Yashasvi Jaiswal also scored 55. Kagiso Rabada picked up 2 wickets, while Mohammed Siraj, Ashok Sharma, Prasidh Krishna and Rashid Khan took one each.

Chasing the target, GT got off to a flying start as Sai Sudharsan and Kumar Kushagra forged a 78-run partnership for the first wicket. But their middle-order batters struggled against Ravi Bishnoi, who picked up 4 wickets in the match. Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada batted well and took the match to the last over, but Tushar Deshpande defended 11 runs in the final over.
