New Delhi: MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma failed to make the cut in their respective playing XIs as the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) locked horns with arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in the IPL 2026 on Saturday, May 02. There was a lot of speculation surrounding the duo’s return ahead of the crucial clash, but neither of them featured in the playing XI.
Dhoni, who is recovering from a calf injury, has not played for CSK in any of their matches so far this season. Rohit, on the other hand, picked up a hamstring injury last month and has since missed his side’s five matches, including the CSK clash on Saturday. MI skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bat first against CSK at the Chepauk.
