The unfortunate trend of players getting injured and being out of the tournament before the IPL 2026 season is not stopping. Especially many fast bowlers have fallen prey to injuries. Former champion Kolkata Knight Riders seems to be the most worried in this matter because another of their fast bowlers is out of the tournament. Indian fast bowler Akash Deep of Knight Riders will not be able to play in IPL 2026 due to injury.
According to a report, Akash Deep is suffering from back problem and has not been able to recover from it yet. He has a stress fracture in his back and has been undergoing rehabilitation process for some time at BCCI’s Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. Due to this he will not be available for this season. Bengal’s right-arm pacer Akash was bought by KKR in the mini auction itself at the base price of Rs 1 crore.
This is a big blow for three-time champions Kolkata as it has greatly weakened the team’s fast bowling attack. This is the third pacer since the auction, who will not be able to play for KKR this season. First of all, KKR had released Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman after the order of the Indian Board. After this, young Indian bowler Harshit Rana was out of the tournament due to injury and now Akash Deep will also not be able to play this time.
The tension of the team captained by Ajinkya Rahane has not ended here. Sri Lankan fast bowler Matisha Pathirana, who was bought for Rs 18 crore in the auction, will also not be available from the start of the tournament. He was injured during the T20 World Cup and was out of the World Cup.
