IPL 2026, Mukul Choudhary: Many uncapped players attracted attention in the mini auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, but the performance of 21-year-old Rajasthan wicketkeeper-batsman Mukul Chaudhary stood out. This youngster, who had a base price of only Rs 30 lakh, had forced Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to bid up to Rs 2.60 crore. There was a tremendous bidding war for Mukul in this auction held in Abu Dhabi, where Rajasthan Royals started, Mumbai Indians also participated, but in the end LSG included him in their team. An oath taken by his father also played a big role in this player becoming a cricketer.
Father’s oath made Mukul a cricketer
Mukul Chaudhary is a resident of Gudhagaudji town of Jhunjhunu district. Coming from a small village, he took training at ABS Cricket Academy in Sikar. Apart from being a wicketkeeper and batsman, he is also a fast bowler. Playing for Rajasthan team in domestic cricket, he recently played a match-winning inning against Delhi in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which helped his price skyrocket.
Mukul’s cricket career has been full of struggles. His journey was not easy, but his father’s support made him strong. Recently, in a video viral on social media, Mukul narrated his journey to a YouTube channel named ‘Baat and Ball’ and said that he and his father never thought of any other option. Becoming a cricketer was the only target. When he left the village for the academy for the first time, his father had clearly told him that he should not return to the village until he became a cricketer and returned with respect. Father also gave strict instructions not to do any job, whatever has to be done has to be done in cricket only.
