IPL 2026: GT steal RCB’s thunder with spotless performance

New Delhi: Gujarat Titans exploited Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s over-aggressive batting to notch up a four-wicket victory in IPL 2026 on Thursday.

After opting to bowl, Gujarat shot out RCB for only 155 for 19.2 overs and then overhauled their target in 15.5 overs.

It was Gujarat’s fifth win in nine matches while RCB slumped to their third loss in nine matches.

Gujarat rose to 10 plints but remain in the fifth spot while RCB retained second spot in the standings, ahead of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals on superior run rate.

While it was an all-round efforst from GT, West Indian Jason Holder (2/29 and 12 runs) was certainly the pick of their players.

Apart from dismissing Jitesh Sharma and Romario Shepherd (17) and contributing with the bat at the tail end of GT’s chase, the all-rounder grabbed three catches.

RCB have adopted a batting template of rapid starts nd then carrying that momentum to post big totals.

Staying true to it, Virat Kohli (28) began in imperious form, creaming five consecutive boundaries of Kagiso Rabada before the South African dismissed him.

RCB were reduced to 35 for two in 3.2 overs.
