IPL 2026, MS Dhoni: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) seems to be in a state of struggle at the beginning of IPL 2026. Team icon and former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is suffering from calf injury, due to which he has not been able to take the field yet. Before the start of the tournament, the franchise had informed that Dhoni is undergoing rehabilitation process and will not be available for the first two weeks. Now the latest update regarding his fitness has come out.
When will MS Dhoni return?
According to media reports, Dhoni will not be able to play in the home match against Delhi Capitals on 11 April 2026 at MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk). His return will be in the next match i.e. on 14th April against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Dhoni will be match fit and join the team from the game on 14th April. However, no statement has yet come from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Dhoni’s return.
On the other hand, Dhoni’s absence is proving to be very harmful for CSK, the team has lost 3 consecutive matches and is waiting for the first win of the season. Due to the injury, Dhoni is staying in Chennai and focusing on his recovery and is undergoing rehabilitation under the supervision of the team’s support staff. A few days ago, he also had a batting session in the nets, but is still a bit far from match fitness.
Update on Dewald Brevis also came
Apart from this, another blow to CSK was the injury of young South African batsman Dewald Brevis. Due to side strain problem, Brewis remained out of the first three matches. However, his recovery is going at a good pace and he may be available for the next match. Brewis recently gave a message to the fans and said that he will be seen on the field on April 11.
