IPL 2026: Cameron Green’s bowling return ahead of LSG clash a big boost for KKR

New Delhi: Cameron Green has been declared fit to bowl in the Indian Premier League 2026 which comes as a major boost for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). KKR will lock horns with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the iconic Eden Gardens on Thursday, April 9 and Green, who has not bowled in the first two clashes, has been cleared to take the ball in his hand.

In KKR’s first two IPL matches against Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Green did not bowl and both the matches were lost by the franchise. In the team’s third game against Punjab Kings (PBKS), which could not be played beyond 3.4 overs due to rain, the Aussie did not get chance to bowl but now it looks like he will take the ball in his hand keeping in mind a lot of player injuries in the franchise.

Back injury prevents Green from bowling

Earlier, the Knight Riders franchise was informed by Cricket Australia that Green would start the 19th edition of the cash-rich league as a specialist batter because of a back injury and also keeping in mind Australia’s hectic summer calendar.

‘Cameron has a lower-back injury, which is being managed, but requires him to abstain from bowling for a short period, CA had said on March 30. Cameron is currently rebuilding his bowling loads in India with a view to return in around 10-12 days’ time.’

Now keeping in mind the team’s fourth game of the season and their position in the standings, it is being learnt that Green will bowl to address the complicated situation. With Harshit Rana and Akash Deep ruled out of the tournament due to injuries and Mustafizur Rahman removed from the squad, the Knight Riders deeply rely on Green to do some magic with the ball in the upcoming games.
