Like every year, a lot of runs are being scored in the IPL 2026 season too. A lot of sixes and fours are being hit. Some amazing bowling and fielding is also visible. But all this is natural because this is the life of cricket and the identity of this league. But apart from these, one more thing is happening continuously and this is fines being imposed on everyone from captains to players. Players like Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Shreyas Iyer have already fallen prey to it and now the names of Hardik Pandya and Tim David have also been added to this list.
Mumbai Indians captain Hardik And BCCI has taken action against Royal Challengers Bangalore power-hitter David for violating rules and regulations in the same match. All this happened on Sunday 12th April in the match between Mumbai and Bengaluru. In this match played at Wankhede Stadium, defending champion RCB returned to the winning path by defeating host Mumbai. Whereas Mumbai had to face its third consecutive defeat.
Hardik’s name came among these captains
Mumbai’s performance under Hardik’s captaincy was once again disappointing. If this was not enough, the Mumbai captain was punished by the BCCI after finding him guilty of slow over rate. The board imposed a fine of Rs 12 lakh on captain Hardik for violation of the code of conduct. This was his team’s first violation this season, so only the captain was fined Rs 12 lakh. Before him, captains like Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been punished for the same mistake.
David was punished for bad behavior
But there was more uproar over the actions of RCB batsman Tim David. In fact, when David was batting, the umpires decided to change the ball when its condition deteriorated. When the second ball was selected, David took it in his hand and started checking it. During this, both the umpires kept asking for the ball but they were repeatedly tossing the ball to check whether it was given a different ball or not.
After doing this four-five times, an umpire snatched the ball from him and gave him a warning. David repeated similar actions in the last over as well, due to which the umpires complained about him to the match referee. David was also found guilty of violating the code of conduct and it was announced that 25 percent of his match fee would be deducted. But not only this, a demerit point was also added to David’s account, which can turn into a ban if it continues further.
