IPL 2026: Bangladesh’s attitude softened as soon as the government changed, old decision on IPL reversed

Ever since the new government has been formed in Bangladesh, major changes have been taking place there. Especially the bitterness and stubborn attitude towards India which was visible for the last one and a half years, seems to be stopping now. Efforts are being made to restore softness in the relations between the two countries and for this the Bangladesh government is taking the help of ‘cricket diplomacy’. After expressing its intention to organize the series with India again, the Bangladesh government has now taken a big decision to lift the ban on telecast of IPL 2026.

From Saturday 28th March 19th season of IPL It is starting and on this day the Bangladesh government has again given permission to telecast the world’s most famous T20 league in its country. With this, millions of IPL fans present in Bangladesh will get a chance to enjoy this league again. Besides, this decision can also be considered as a step towards the return of Bangladeshi players in the next IPL season.

There will be no ban on telecast of IPL

Zaheer Uddin Swapan, the new Information and Broadcasting Minister of Bangladesh Government, announced that there is no ban on the telecast of IPL. He also said that if any broadcasting company or channel applies to him for broadcasting IPL, he will not stop it because the government does not want to mix sports and politics. He also said that if IPL’s official broadcaster Star Sports wants to broadcast this league in Bangladesh, then they can do so but their government will not force or pressure anyone.

Mustafizur was banned after the controversy

This decision of the new government formed after the recent elections is one of the steps taken towards bringing the deteriorating relations between India and Bangladesh back on track. Earlier in January, when Kolkata Knight Riders had released Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from their squad on the request of BCCI, there was a huge uproar. At that time, there was an interim government in Bangladesh and during that time, everyone from the Sports Minister to the Broadcasting Minister had shown aggressive attitudes against India. During this time, it was announced that the T20 World Cup would not be played in India, due to which the Bangladeshi team was out of the tournament, while the telecast of IPL was also banned.
