New Delhi: There is just one thing which ardent Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans do not like to see and that is their favourite star MS Dhoni struggling on the field. Most of the cricket-knowing audience believes that Dhoni should have called it quits after CSK’s title-winning campaign in 2023 but he refrained from doing so piling pressure on none other but himself.
Since the last two IPL seasons – 2024 and 2025, Dhoni has been struggling batting and health wise though keeping his wicketkeeping duties intact with some memorable catches behind the wickets. In the last two seasons, the 44-year-old has struggled to contribute with the bat so has the franchise in the cash-rich league. His issue with his knees is not allowing him to contribute as age is catching up swiftly with the former India skipper.
Ahead of the IPL 2026, Dhoni has been practicing at his den since March 1 but a recent video of his has sparked health concerns among his fans. In a latest video which went viral on social media, Dhoni was seen limping off the field after his usual practice session at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
A player throughout known for his agility was seen pretty uncomfortable while walking back though he did not let the pain come on his face. At 44 and with some health concerns around, why is the former CSK skipper being forced to play is the question.

I think this is his last season, as age seems to be catching up with him. pic.twitter.com/ZaR17O7O32

Even after undergoing a surgery on his knee after the 2023 title-winning campaign, Dhoni has not recovered fully as his on-field struggle has been quite visible which the star player has also admitted. With CSK fans wanting to see their star player playing for few more years, we might see him bid adieu to IPL after this season.
