Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Virat Kohli opened up on the bond he shares with his long-time Indian teammate and Mumbai Indians’ Rohit Sharma ahead of their meeting in IPL 2025.
Kohli and RCB head to Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium to take on Mumbai Indians on Monday (April 7). Ahead of the clash, RCB shared a video titled the Ro-Ko bond, in which Kohli is seen talking about his relationship with Rohit and how the duo have played together.
“Playing alongside someone for such a long time naturally leads to a strong bond, especially when you share so much of your understanding of the game. In the early years, we were constantly learning from each other and growing in our careers simultaneously.
“We often exchanged ideas, asked questions, and discussed various aspects of the game. Over time, we also worked closely together in leadership roles, where we regularly discussed strategies and ideas.”
While the two stalwarts’ fan-base may be divided and reports of rift between the two, Kohli and Rohit share a special bond, having played for a decade and half together, winning games for Team India.
“More often than not, we found ourselves on the same page regarding the best approach to a particular situation or match. The trust we’ve built over the years is invaluable, knowing that we can rely on each other to get the job done for the team,” Kohli added.
“Reflecting on our long careers, we are both grateful and proud of the journey we’ve shared. It wasn’t always certain that we would play for India for 15 years, but the consistency and memories we’ve built together have been incredibly fulfilling. It’s been a privilege to share these moments and continue to do so.”

In the past three years, Rohit and Kohli had come close to winning the World Test Championship final and the ODI World Cup before eventually adding back to back ICC titles by winning the T20 World Cup in 2024 and Champions Trophy in 2025.
The duo announced their retirement from T20 internationals, but continue to play in the shortest format in IPL. There has also been talk of their retirement from ODIs and Tests, but the pair are expected to carry on playing for the time-being.
Rohit and Kohli, who are two of the four players part of every IPL since 2008, are set to go head to head in the ongoing season on Monday. While Rohit has added six IPL titles, Kohli is yet to win the IPL title in his 17-year career with RCB.
