‘Skill Connect Cell’ has been formed to strengthen the target of trillion dollar economy in Uttar Pradesh. This cell will provide skilled manpower to the industries by coordinating between Invest UP and UPSDM and will directly connect the youth with employment.
Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM) has taken a big step to give a strong foundation to the goal of making Uttar Pradesh a trillion dollar economy. Now ‘Skill Connect Cell’ has been formed to provide trained and skilled manpower to the big industries investing in the state as per their needs.
The objective of this initiative is to ensure that investments coming into the state get timely skilled human resources and industries do not face workforce shortage. For this purpose, this special cell has been created for better coordination between Invest UP and Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission.
Strong coordination between Invest UP and UPSDM
To make the rapidly increasing investment in the state successful, coordination between industries and training institutions is necessary. ‘Skill Connect Cell’ will act as a bridge between Invest UP and UPSDM. This cell will do real-time monitoring of investment related projects and ensure that the youth are given training accordingly in the district in which the investment is being made.
SpeedUp-PMU will give speed to training and placement
State Minister of State for Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) Kapil Dev Aggarwal said that Speedup-PMU has been added to speed up the training and employment process of the mission. Now this PMU will be in direct touch with the investors through ‘Skill Connect Cell’ and will speed up the process of training and placement on the basis of real-time data. With this, the youth will get employment opportunities faster.
Arrangement of Real-Time Tracking, Database and Direct Placement
‘Skill Connect Cell’ will not be just a paper unit, but its work will be visible at the ground level.
- Daily coordination with InvestUP to update the status of projects
- Preparing data about how much investment is coming in which district
- Determining the number of youth as per requirement in sectors like automobile, IT, textile etc.
- Maintaining regular contact with the HR department of investors
- Providing placement to trained youth directly in industries through training partners.
With this system, industries will get ready workforce and youth will get employment opportunities in their own district.
Skill Training in 35 Sectors and 1300+ Job Roles
According to Pulkit Khare, Mission Director of Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission, currently the mission is training youth in about 35 sectors and more than 1300 job roles. With the activation of ‘Skill Connect Cell’ the gap between training and industry demand will reduce. With this, the youth of the state will get better opportunities to get jobs in big industries and Uttar Pradesh will move towards becoming a ‘skill hub’. This order has been implemented with immediate effect.
Big step towards Ease of Doing Business and Skill Hub
This new initiative will promote ‘Ease of Doing Business’ in the state. Skilled human resources will be easily available to investors, which will speed up the establishment and operation of industries. Also, this will prove to be an important step towards developing Uttar Pradesh as a big ‘skill hub’.
Responsibility assigned to these officers
For better coordination, both the departments have designated single points of contact (SPOC).
- Omair Shahid will be the team leader SPOC from Invest UP.
- Dr. Pavitra Tandon will chair this cell on behalf of the Skill Development Mission.
- Atul Kumar Singh has been named as the SPOC of the mission.
- The team also includes Mr. Dhananjay Kumar Dwivedi and Jyoti Srivastava.
It will be the responsibility of these officers to ensure that the coordination between investment and skill training remains strong and the youth can get employment on time.
