New Delhi: A heartwarming video of legendary actor and comedian Govardhan Asrani, fondly known as Asrani, has surfaced online just days after his passing, leaving fans both emotional and nostalgic. The 84-year-old actor, who passed away on Monday (October 20) following a prolonged illness, was seen dancing joyfully on stage at an event held only ten days before his death.

The now-viral clip, shared by singer Pinky Maidasani on Instagram, shows Asrani in high spirits, enjoying the music and dancing to Sindhi folk tunes. He was seen supported by a few people on stage initially but later broke into cheerful dance steps, smiling and clapping to the rhythm.

Asrani’s death news

Asrani’s death was confirmed on Monday by his manager, Babubhai Thiba, who stated, “Asrani passed away today at 3 PM at Arogya Nidhi Hospital, Juhu. He is survived by his wife, sister, and nephew.” His final rites were performed at Santacruz Crematorium in Mumbai, where close friends and family gathered to bid farewell.

Over a remarkable career spanning more than five decades, Asrani appeared in over 350 films, becoming one of Bollywood’s most beloved comedians. He was best known for his iconic role as the eccentric jail warden in the 1975 cult classic Sholay, alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra. His impeccable comic timing also shone through in films like Namak Haram, Chupke Chupke, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, All The Best, and De Dana Dan.

In his final years, Asrani continued to work in films and television, charming audiences with the same warmth and humour that made him a household name.
