Inter Draw 2-2 Against Parma After Squandering Two-Goal Lead In Serie A

Inter Milan, leading Serie A, let a two-goal lead slip to draw 2-2 with Parma on Sunday. This result gives Napoli a chance to narrow the gap at the top.

Inter’s coach, Simeone Inzaghi, was absent due to a touchline ban after receiving a red card last weekend. Inter conceded twice in nine minutes during the second half.

Matteo Darmian opened the scoring for Inter in the 15th minute. His shot hit the post before going in. Despite Parma’s improvement after conceding, Inter doubled their lead just before halftime. Marcus Thuram lobbed the ball over Zion Suzuki from inside the box.

Parma, who had tested Yann Sommer earlier, responded by scoring on the hour mark. Adrian Bernabe found the bottom-right corner from 20 yards out. Jacob Ondrejka then equalised in the 69th minute with a deflected strike off Darmian past Sommer.

Inter now have 68 points from 31 matches, four points ahead of Napoli. Napoli will face Bologna on Monday. This draw marks only the second time this season that Inter have lost a two-goal lead in Serie A.

The Nerazzurri previously drew 4-4 with Juventus in October after leading by two goals. They also conceded twice in nine minutes against Fiorentina earlier this season, losing 3-0. Parma’s comeback was their first recovery from a two-goal deficit since September 2024 against Lecce.

Thuram’s goal was significant as it marked his first Serie A goal since January. He has now scored 14 league goals this season, setting a personal record for most goals in a single season within Europe’s top five leagues.

This match highlighted Inter’s defensive vulnerabilities and provided an opportunity for Napoli to close in on them at the top of Serie A.
