Inspired by Virat Kohli? Reason behind Rohit Sharma’s stunning weight-loss move revealed!!

Former India National Cricket Team all-format captain Rohit Sharma has shed a significant amount of weight ahead of the white-ball series against the Australia National Cricket Team.

Was this weight loss journey inspired by the fittest cricketer in the world, Virat Kohli? This question has been on the minds of some fans, and now the real reason behind Rohit Sharma losing weight has been revealed.

Rohit Sharma sheds 8 kilograms

Ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) summoned the Indian cricketers for the fitness tests that were conducted at the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru

Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Shubman Gill, Shardul Thakur, Mohammad Siraj, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jitesh Sharma, and other players underwent several drills under the new strength and conditioning coach, Adrian le Roux.

All the players managed to pass the fitness tests, and it was reported that the World Cup-winning captain Rohit looked good at the BCCI Center of Excellence.

When Rohit returned to Mumbai, fans noticed that he was looking quite lean while donning a black t-shirt and joggers. Later, the Indian Express journalist Devendra Pandey revealed that Rohit Sharma has shed 8 kilograms in recent weeks, showcasing remarkable determination to transform his body.

Brutal trolling forced Rohit Sharma to lose weight

Rohit has been working hard in the nets and the gym ahead of his comeback to international cricket in the Australia ODI series. He was also spotted training alongside the former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, who has now made a big revelation on the former India skipper’s fitness transformation.

Nayar highlighted that Rohit faced heavy trolling after some images of him coming out of the airport, where he didn’t look in ideal shape, went viral. This was the exact moment the modern-day batting great realized a transformation was needed, confirmed Abhishek Nayar.

“There were a lot of talks about him putting on weight and a few images of him coming out of the airport. So, it was about changing all of that and in a lot of ways to be healthier, faster, and fitter,” said Nayar, as quoted by Star Sports.

Whether he’s captain or not, that will never change the way he plays – Abhishek Nayar

Rohit Sharma has been sacked as the ODI skipper ahead of the Australia tour, and he will be playing under the leadership of Shubman Gill in the matches against the Aussies.

However, that won’t change the way he bats while opening the innings, feels Abhishek Nayar. The former India assistant coach believes that Rohit would continue to play in a selfless style and keep the team’s needs over his own.

“Whether he’s captain or not, that will never change the way he plays for this team and for his teammates,” said the former Team India assistant coach.

Rohit and other Indian players have already landed in Perth for the ODI series opener against Australia, and on Thursday had a good practice session.
