Star director Mani Ratnam is getting shocks as success eluded him at the box office in the recent past. He is now coming with the film titled Inji Vellam. The film stars Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles. The film has the Kolkota backdrop and according to the latest, the film’s shooting has been wrapped.
The pace at which the shooting has been wrapped is becoming the talk of the town. The project was announced on 23 July and in three months the production of the film has been completed.
Rahman is the music director for the film bankrolled on Madras Talkies along with Lyca Productions and India Talkies. Plans are on to release the film during Pongal 2027. For Inji Vellam, Vijay Sethupathi is taking 60% less remuneration than his market value. Netflix has acquired the rights of the film for a fancy sum.
The film also gives Mani Ratnam an opportunity to explore a romantic narrative with two performers known for their understated approach to characterisation.
