Infosys has reportedly hiked salary packages for its freshers in certain roles amid the push to reinforce AI-first capabilities, according a report by Moneycontrol.
The tech company is now offering up to Rs 21 lakh per annum for specialized technology roles, which is the highest entry-level pay among IT firms in India.
The MC report stated that Infosys will launch an off-campus hiring drive for 2025 engineering and computer science graduates to recruit talent for specialised technology roles.
The roles being offered include Specialist Programmer (L1 to L3) and Digital Specialist Engineer (Trainee). These positions are open to BE, BTech, ME, MTech, MCA and integrated MSc graduates from computer science, IT and select circuit branches such as ECE and EEE.
For the role Infosys is offering packages up to Rs 21 lakh is Specialist Programmer L3 (Trainee). Other roles being offered are Specialist Programmer L2 (Trainee) at Rs 16 LPA and Specialist Programmer L1 (Trainee) at Rs 11 LPA. The Digital Specialist Engineer (Trainee) role comes with a compensation of Rs 7 LPA.
Infosys Group CHRO Shaji Mathew told Moneycontrol that the company is pursuing an AI-first strategy across its service lines, which has increased the need to upskill its existing workforce while also hiring digitally native talent with specialised skills.
“Our early-career hiring spans both campus and off-campus channels. We have also widened opportunities under the Specialist Programmer track, with compensation going up to Rs 21 lakh per annum,” he said in response to queries as reported by MC.
The low entry-level salary in IT companies compared to higher positions has largely remained a debated topic, where people have criticized the huge differences in the pay gap between CEOs of IT firms and freshers.
Infosys has hired 12,000 freshers for the first half of the fiscal year 2026, and is on track to reach its 20,000 fresher hiring target for the year, the MC reported.
