Indore’s POCSO court sentenced a man found guilty of rape and attempt to murder of a 2-year-old girl to life imprisonment four times. In this October 2022 case, a fine of ₹42,000 was also imposed on the culprit and a compensation of ₹3 lakh was recommended to the victim.
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A special court (POCSO Act) in Indore on Friday sentenced a 38-year-old man to life imprisonment four times for raping and attempting to murder a 2-year-old girl. This matter is of October 2022. Additional Sessions Judge and Special Judge (POCSO) Kshipra Patel sentenced accused Dinesh to life imprisonment four times separately. Furthermore, Judge Patel sentenced the accused to five years of rigorous imprisonment under section 366 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and also imposed a fine of Rs 42,000 on the accused.
That dark night of October 12-13, 2022, the beast took away the daughter
According to information received from the District Prosecution Directorate of Indore, on the intervening night of October 12 and 13, 2022, the victim’s family was sleeping and the victim’s father woke up to the sound of a falling plank. He kept the board aside and went to sleep again. A few minutes later, his wife woke him up again and informed him that their 2-year-old daughter was missing. He and his wife searched for their daughter in the surrounding area, but could not find her. After this, the victim’s father lodged an FIR in Chandan Nagar police station. On October 13, 2022, during the day, a two-year-old girl was found injured in the bushes near Reti Mandi Road by the employees of Dial-100. On the spot, the girl’s parents identified her and took her into their custody. While investigating the case, officials scanned CCTV footage from around the spot, which showed the truck used in the incident coming and going from the girl’s house. When the girl’s father was shown the footage, he identified the truck as that of accused Dinesh, which he himself was driving.
The accused was arrested and his medical examination was done and DNA evidence in the case was found positive. After this, the investigation was completed and the final report was presented in the court. On the basis of this, the accused was convicted and sentenced. The court has also recommended a compensation of Rs 3 lakh to the victim.
