1. Giving more water than necessary
The biggest reason for damage to indoor plants is overwatering. Many people consider it necessary to water daily, whereas every plant’s water needs are different. Due to excessive watering, rotting starts in the roots and the plant gradually starts withering. It is better to check the soil with your finger before watering. Water only if the soil appears dry on top.
2. Placing a plant in the wrong place
Not every indoor plant needs the same light. Some plants do not like strong sunlight, while some need good natural light. Often people keep plants in a dark place or in direct sunlight, due to which the leaves start turning yellow. It is very important to decide the location of the plant according to its variety.
3. Neglecting the correct pot and drainage
In order to have a beautiful pot, people often use such pots which do not have a hole at the bottom. Due to this, water is not able to come out and water gets accumulated in the roots. For indoor plants, choose a pot which has drainage, so that excess water can drain out easily and the plant remains healthy.
4. Not cleaning the leaves
Over time, dust accumulates on the leaves of indoor plants, due to which the plant is not able to breathe properly. Many people focus only on watering, but forget about cleaning the leaves. Cleaning the leaves gently with a wet cloth once a week improves the growth of the plant.
5. Ignoring fertilizer and nutrition
It is a common mistake to assume that indoor plants do not need fertilizer. Without nutrition for a long time, the growth of plants stops. By giving small amount of organic manure or liquid fertilizer once a month, the plants remain green and strong.
