India’s largest airline, IndiGo, is expanding its European footprint with new direct flights to Greece. Starting January 23, 2026, the carrier will launch a Mumbai–Athens route, followed a day later by a Delhi–Athens connection on January 24.
With these new routes, IndiGo becomes the only Indian airline offering non-stop flights between India and Greece, an important step in its growing international strategy.
Flight Schedule and Details
Both routes will operate three times a week, using IndiGo’s first long-range narrow-body aircraft, the Airbus A321XLR. The Mumbai–Athens inaugural flight takes off on January 23, while the Delhi–Athens service begins on January 24.
Here’s a look at the official flight schedule:
Flight No. | Route | Departure | Arrival | Frequency |

Aircraft Details
The new A321XLR aircraft offers a range of up to 8,700 km, allowing IndiGo to reach deeper into Europe while keeping operations cost-efficient. Each aircraft will include 12 IndiGoStretch seats in a 2×2 business-style layout and 183 economy seats.
Why This Route Matters
Athens has been gaining popularity among Indian travellers, especially for leisure trips, MICE events, and destination weddings. Direct flights from India’s two biggest cities are expected to make the Greek capital more accessible and affordable.
IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers said the new services represent a major milestone for the airline’s long-range operations and a new chapter in connecting “two ancient civilisations.” He added that the routes will strengthen cultural and economic ties while meeting the rising demand for travel between India and Southern Europe.
What This Means for Travellers
Until now, passengers flying to Greece from India had to connect through hubs like Doha, Istanbul, or Dubai. IndiGo’s new non-stop routes eliminate that hassle, cutting down travel time and opening new opportunities for both tourism and business travel.
As IndiGo introduces the A321XLR into its fleet, travellers can expect more direct flights to new European destinations in the future.
