IndiGo paid Rs 610 crore as refund to the passengers till December 7. The Civil Aviation Ministry imposed a cap on air fares and ordered goods to be delivered within 48 hours. Flight operations are returning to normal. More than 1650 flights operated on Sunday.
Indigo Latest Updates: There is some relief news amid the ongoing flight crisis in IndiGo. Indigo said in its update on the evening of Sunday 7th December that amid the ongoing chaos for the last 6 days, the company is now operating more than 1650 flights, which is much more than the 1500 flights on Saturday. According to IndiGo, 137 out of 138 destinations are operational and on-time performance is 75%, more than double from yesterday’s 30 percent.
Indigo refunded Rs 610 crore to passengers
The Civil Aviation Ministry had ordered IndiGo to give all refunds for canceled or highly delayed flights by 8 pm on Sunday night. According to reports, IndiGo has processed a total refund of Rs 610 crore so far. No additional fees will be charged for changes in journey due to cancellation. Dedicated support cells have been created to proactively assist passengers, so that refund and re-booking issues are resolved without any delay or inconvenience.

Ticket cancellation exemption will remain till December 15
The airline said that it will give complete exemption on cancellation and reschedule requests for bookings till December 15. He said that the refund process is going on fast. We are working around the clock to resume normal service. Please support us. Meanwhile, according to the Civil Aviation Ministry, air travel operations are rapidly returning to normal across the country as all other domestic airlines are operating smoothly and at full capacity. At the same time, IndiGo’s performance has continuously improved today and flight schedules are coming back to normal levels.
Strict steps taken to stop overcharging
The Civil Aviation Ministry has taken strict action against the sudden increase in fares by other airlines due to cancellation of IndiGo flights. In this regard, a limit was imposed on air fares with immediate effect, so that passengers cannot be charged unnecessarily high fares. After the implementation of this order, the fare level on the affected routes has reduced to an acceptable range. All airlines have been instructed to strictly follow the revised fare structure.
Goods identification and delivery
The ministry has directed IndiGo to trace and deliver all the luggage lost from passengers due to the glitch within 48 hours. Constant communication is important throughout this process. With this effort, IndiGo has successfully delivered 3000 pieces of luggage to passengers across India till yesterday. Additionally, ground help has been strengthened through better monitoring and timely deployment of assistance by airport operators and CISF.
Realtime Monitoring and Control Room
The 24×7 control room of the Ministry of Civil Aviation is functioning as an integrated coordination hub. It is overseeing flight operations, airport conditions and passenger assistance needs. Passengers’ calls are being responded to promptly and assistance is being provided as per need. The ministry said the aviation network is rapidly moving towards full normalcy, and all corrective measures will remain in place until operations are completely stabilised.
