Indigo Latest News: IndiGo’s flight operations have been going haywire for the past several days. Lakhs of passengers are worried, there are long queues at airports and the prices of tickets on other airlines are sky high. In such an environment, there is only one question in everyone’s mind, ‘When will IndiGo become normal?’ IndiGo has finally given a big update. The airline says that the target has been set to completely normalize operations by December 15. This means that it may take some more time for relief to arrive. But the question is also, how did this crisis come about, and what action has the government taken so far? Know here in a very easy way…

Government’s strictness on Indigo

After four days of chaos, the central government adopted a strict stance. IndiGo has been ordered to refund all pending refunds by 8 pm on Sunday and return the luggage within 48 hours. The government has also warned other airlines not to increase fares. If instructions are not followed, immediate action will be taken. Along with this, Indigo CEO Peter Albers can also be removed from the post. According to media reports, the government is considering this demand. Today, on Saturday, the Aviation Ministry has called IndiGo officials. It is also being said that the government can also impose heavy fines on the airline.

Indigo Crisis: Situation did not improve even on the 5th day

IndiGo’s operations could not get back on track for the fifth consecutive day. More than 400 flights have been canceled on Saturday, December 6 alone. In the last four days this figure has reached more than 2,000 flights. Ever since the crisis started, about 500 flights are getting delayed every day. Most of the problems are being seen at big airports like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru. Other airlines are also taking advantage of the helplessness of passengers, whose prices have increased up to 10 times.

Why and how did the Indigo Crisis start?

DGCA implemented a new rule related to the work of crew and pilots, which is called FDTL (Flight Duty Time Limitation). The first phase has come into effect from July 1 and the second phase from November 1. In the new rule, it is necessary to give more rest to the pilot-crew, due to which there has suddenly been a huge shortage of crew. DGCA has now given temporary relief to IndiGo till 2026, but by the time this relief came, the situation had worsened.

What is Indigo’s fault?

According to reports, Indigo was given 9 months to hire new staff. But the airline did not do that much hiring, the shortage of pilots and crew was already anticipated, yet all the planning failed in the last one week, hence it is being said that the crisis was not building suddenly but gradually. The situation started worsening from December 2 and then the crisis kept increasing. The situation became so uncontrollable that the fare from Delhi to Mumbai reached Rs 10 thousand to Rs 50 thousand. IndiGo admitted that there was a mistake in their staff planning and after the implementation of the new rules, the demand for crew suddenly increased.

Will there be relief by December 15?

IndiGo says re-shuffling of crew is going on, schedule is being reset, target is to stabilize the situation by December 15> Government and DGCA are continuously monitoring. It is expected that there will be problems for the next few days, but the situation may gradually improve.
