On Sunday, 115 flights were canceled at Hyderabad airport, 112 at Mumbai airport, 109 in Delhi, 38 in Chennai and 11 in Amritsar. Since Tuesday, IndiGo has canceled over 2,000 flights and delayed several others, leaving a large number of passengers stranded at the airport.

Show cause notice issued to Indigo CEO

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a show cause notice to IndiGo CEO Peter Elbers holding him responsible for major deficiencies in planning, monitoring and resource management. The DGCS gave them 24 hours to explain why action should not be initiated against them for the violations. In fact, large-scale flight cancellations and delays in the last few days have become the country’s biggest aviation crisis.

Indigo should clear the refund of passengers

Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Ministry on Saturday directed airlines to clear all pending refunds to passengers affected by flight cancellations by 8 pm on December 7 (Sunday). The ministry also asked IndiGo to ensure that any luggage separated from passengers is returned within the next two days. Along with this, after the rapid increase in air fares between different places in the country, a limit has also been fixed on fares on domestic flights.

When will Indigo’s crisis end?

Indigo has said in its recent statement that it is continuously improving its entire network. It is expected that operations will become normal by December 10. To deal with and monitor the crisis, the company has formed a Crisis Management Group, which is making every possible effort to overcome the problems faced by the passengers.
