Delhi’s air condition today
On Sunday, Delhi’s air had become extremely poisonous (Severe-Plus AQI). The 24-hour average AQI is 461, which is the worst this year. AQI reached 500 in Wazirpur, Rohini and Ashok Vihar. Most of the 38 active air quality monitoring stations showed the severe category.
Why did Delhi’s air become so poisonous?
According to experts, high humidity, low temperatures and calm winds trapped the pollution near the ground. Atmospheric inversion made the situation worse, that is, due to cold air below and hot air above, pollution could not spread. Local emissions are still very high. Even the dust arising from construction works is not able to spread in the air.
Weather and temperature in Delhi today
The maximum temperature was recorded at 24°C (1°C above normal) and the minimum temperature was 8.2°C. IMD has predicted shallow to moderate fog in the morning. There may be a slight breeze during the day, which may lead to a slight reduction in pollution.
How will be the air quality in Delhi in future?
GRAP Stages III and IV implemented, all measures active. According to experts, AQI is expected to remain in the Very Poor category from Monday to Wednesday. The situation may remain the same for the next six days from December 18.
