The interim trade deal between India and America has reached its final phase. This deal can be announced anytime. At the same time, America has done such a tight move, due to which it can increase the trouble and strength of China for India. Experts say that amidst increasing competition from China, the US has announced the removal of restriction on the sale of China’s electronic design automation (EDA) software. Now experts say that after this India needs to accelerate its domestic chip design capabilities. Following the restrictions imposed by President Donald Trump, the US taking this step has been allowed to re -introduce full cooperation with Chinese institutions, the major EDA software companies such as Condenses Design Systems, Wilsonville -based Siemens EDA and Saynvel -based Sinopis. At the same time, a big problem has arisen for India.
Trouble may increase
Ruchir Dixit, president of the Board of Directors of India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), said in an ET report that Chinese industry’s strengthening capabilities can increase complexity not only for India’s EDA sector, but also in comprehensive electronics and semiconductor industries. He said that until a few months ago, no one considered the software to be a problem of supply chain. Now, with this step, software has also been included in the supply chain. This includes everything that makes employment possible in India. Regarding the removal of software restrictions, Dixit said that companies consider in India for development or other tasks can evaluate their time carefully.
India will not be banned
However, Sinopsis Chief Product Development Officer, Shankar Krishnamurthy said that the company does not think that the first restrictions imposed on China on software exports will be imposed on India; That too when there is an ambition to create India’s semiconductor ecosystem and the current American cooperation in the region. But Forester’s leading analyst Biswajit Mahapatra said that this is a sign of increasing competition. He said that a more competent Chinese chip industry, with the restoration of access to important design software, can accelerate its own R&D and manufacturing. Due to which the stake and foreign investment race in the global market can be faster, especially in the field of design and packaging, where India is also making remarkable progress.
China will change the atmosphere due to relaxation
Kunal Chaudhary, partner of EY India’s Inbound Investment Group, emphasized the need for India to take fast action. He said, “India should move faster in terms of chip design. With the US relaxing EDA export sanctions for China, global cinematics is changing. Chaudhary said that making your own chip design software is a strategic need, not only for flexibility, but also to lead in the next era of semiconductor innovation. He also covered in RE and -intellectual development. Called investment.
How many semicon design engineers in India
It is also an important area for India. However, India is currently focusing on mature nodes, which holds a 75-80 per cent stake in market demand, aimed at building an entire price supply ecosystem in the medium period. Thandavarayan said that 20 percent of the semiconductor design engineers at the global level are in the country and thus their role in chip design in advance nodes is very important. Jaswinder Ahuja, former Managing Director of Condenses India, said that its immediate effect on Indian companies may be limited, but it raises questions about the possible sanctions on India in future.
