Sri Lanka Cricket has announced the schedule for the upcoming World Test Championship in the island country for India. The test Championship will be two match series.
The series will be hosted by Galle and Colombo. It will reportedly take place from August 15 to 19 at the Galle International Stadium. The other series will be clash in Colombo from August 23 to 27.
The series will mark India’s first Test in the World Test Championship (WTC) this year. The last time India played this series was in 2025 against South Africa.
India beat Afghanistan in a single Test match in June. But it didn’t count for the World Test Championship because Afghanistan isn’t one of the nine WTC teams.
The players included in the squad for the Sri Lanka tour are mostly new, and most of the others who were there in the previous time have either retired or not selected.
As per reports, it was also said that India and Sri Lanka might also play three T20 matches during the tour. But Sri Lanka Cricket’s press release didn’t mention any T20s, so that series probably won’t happen.
