External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar defended India’s energy relations with Russia and said that our oil procurement is both in the interest of both national and global. The Foreign Minister said that the issue of business is coming in the way of talks with America, but India will continue to take decisions independently. The Foreign Minister emphasized India’s energy security and responded to criticisms on the purchase of Russian oil.

Jaishankar said, it is ridiculous that people of the US administration are accusing others of doing business. If you have difficulty in buying oil or refined products from India, do not buy. Nobody is forcing you for this. Europe buys, America buys. If you do not like, do not buy.

This statement of Jaishankar has come at a time when there is tension between India and America about trade. America has imposed 50% tariff on India, 25% penalty tariffs are also included in gym. This penalty has been imposed on India due to buying oil from Russia.

Prices stabilized when we bought oil

Jaishankar said that when oil prices increased in 2022, concern increased worldwide. At that time it was said that if India wants to buy oil from Russia, then let it be allowed to buy. Because this will stabilize prices. The purpose of shopping for India is also to calm the markets. We are buying oil from Russia to keep prices stable. It is in the interest of both national and global.

Jaishankar said that we would like to increase business with Russia. In my conversation during my visit to Russia, we focused on bilateral relations. Our attitude towards Russia-Ukraine war has been very clear. We want a solution to this issue as soon as possible.

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar was on a tour of Russia from 19 to 21 August. He co-existed the 26th session of the Indo-Russian International Commission of India on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-Tea) here.

Jaishankar said- America-India trade talks continue

On the ongoing business talks with America, Jaishankar said that the talks are going on but India’s attitude is strong. There are many boundaries in the conversation and we have to be clear about them. But we are committed to protect the interests of farmers and small businesses.

Jaishankar said that both cooperation and controversy have been seen in the relations between America and China, but overall the matter has been positive. There are some issues right now, but it is not that we had never had any issues before. Other aspects of the relationship are strong. During Obama’s tenure, Washington gave the idea of G2 framework with China. But during Trump’s tenure, there has been a change in the attitude of US foreign policy.
