India’s Mohammed Siraj among nominees for ICC Player of the Month

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the nominees for the Men’s and Women’s Player of the Month awards for August 2025, with fast bowlers dominating the men`s category.

India’s , New Zealand’s Matt Henry, and West Indies’ Jayden Seales have been shortlisted for their standout performances across formats last month.

Siraj’s nomination comes on the back of a sensational bowling display in the fifth Test match against England during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. He claimed 4/86 in 16.2 overs in the first innings and followed it up with a five-wicket haul (5/104 in 30.1 overs) in the second, delivering when it mattered most on the final day of the series decider.

Women’s Player of the Month nominees

In the women’s category, the ICC has shortlisted Muneeba Ali (Pakistan), Orla Prendergast (Ireland), and Iris Zwilling (Netherlands) for their outstanding contributions in T20I matches across Europe.

Ireland’s Orla Prendergast impressed in her team’s home T20I series win against Pakistan and continued her form in subsequent European fixtures, contributing with both bat and ball. Muneeba Ali made a significant impact in the final match of that series with a sparkling century, helping Pakistan avoid a whitewash.

Netherlands’ Iris Zwilling was another standout performer, picking up a bagful of wickets during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier, helping her team stay competitive throughout the tournament.

The winners of the ICC Player of the Month awards will be determined through a combination of votes from an independent ICC panel and global fans, who can cast their votes on the official ICC website.
