India’s indigenously developed weapon systems gave befitting response to Pakistan: Top defense officials

New Delhi: Air Marshal AK Bharti while addressing the media along with Director General of Military Operation (DGMO) Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai along with Vice Admiral AN Pramod, on Monday said that India’s indigenously developed weapon system gave a befitting response to Pakistan attack on Indian military installations.

Bharti said the indigenously developed Akash air defence weapons system also played a steeler role in countering the Pakistani airborne threats.

Bharti also said that India’s fight was against terrorists and its support infrastructure, and not with the Pakistan military. Sadly, the Pakistan army chose to interfere in the fight and we had to respond in kind.

‘Air defense system stood like a wall”

“Our retaliatory was necessary and whatever losses they suffered, they themselves are responsible for their loss. Our air defence system stood like a wall for the country and bypassing it for the enemy was impossible. This brings me to the point how have Indian forces managed to minimise the damage to both civilian and military infrastructure in the country,” added AK Bharti.

“Multi-layered air defence protection”

Explaining how India’s multi-layered air defence systems foiled the Pakistani attack, Air Marshal Bharti said, “Majority populace within the country has a lot to say about the layered and integrated air defense systems put in place by Indian armed forces including assets of Indian army Navy and air force. This robust AD system comprises of large variety of multilayered Air Defence systems and weapons systems like point defence weapons systems like low level air defence guns, shoulder fired manpads, short range surface to air missiles.”

“Pakistan airfields suffered heavy damage”

Director General of Military Operation (DGMO) Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai also talked about countering Pakistani drone threats and said, “You must have seen the destruction of Pak airfields….Compared to their airfields, our airfields are fully functional. And just not that, all attempts by Pakistani drone to targets our installations were appropriately countered.”
