India’s IIP grows 5.2 % in February 2026, supported by growth in manufacturing sector

New Delhi: India’s industrial production grew 5.2 per cent in February 2026 as compared to 4.8 percent (Quick Estimate) in the month of January 2026. The jump was mainly due to improvement in manufacturing sector, according to the government official data released on Monday.

The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation released a statement, which mentioned that the factory output, measured in terms of the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), rose by 2.7 per cent in February 2025.

The National Statistics Office (NSO) revised the industrial production growth for January 2026 to 5.1 per cent. It had released the provisional estimate of 4.8 per cent in March 2026.

The manufacturing sector’s output growth jumped to 6 per cent in February 2026, while it was recorded at 2.8 per cent in the year-ago month.

Mining production also recorded a growth of 3.1 per cent, as compared to a growth of 1.6 per cent recorded a year ago.

India’s Power generation capacity increased by 2.3 per cent in February 2026, while it stood at 3.6 per cent expansion in the year-ago period.

During the April-February period of 2025-26, India’s industrial production growth remained flat at 4.1 per cent compared to same period a year ago.
