Malaria medicine
Malaria vaccine adfalcivax: Malaria has been an chronic and serious disease in India, which affects millions of people every year. Especially when the number of mosquitoes increases during the rainy season, then this disease starts spreading even more. But now India has moved towards a big victory against malaria. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has prepared the country’s first desi malaria vaccine named Adfalcivax. This vaccine especially affects the malaria called Plasmodium Falciparum which is one of the most fatal malaria infections.
Adfalcivax is a vaccine that prevents malaria infection before entering the body. Apart from this, this vaccine also takes care that if someone has malaria, then that virus or parasite should not spread from the body and spread to anyone else. That is, it not only protects the body, but also prevents the transmission of malaria. It is designed in such a way that it creates a kind of immunity in the body that does not allow malaria to enter the body again.
Special things of vaccine
It is fully built in India, that is, it is part of a “Make in India” initiative. This means that now India will not depend on foreign countries for malaria vaccine and will be able to ensure its large amount of availability in our country itself. Adfalcivax vaccine is expected that it will prove to be helpful in the prevention and elimination of malaria in India. If it was successful on a large scale, then it will be considered an important scientific achievement of India at the global level as well.
Vaccine trial and future plan
Currently, testing of pre-clinical stage of this vaccine has been completed and it has got positive results. Now it is being taken in a clinical stage on humans for trial. This stage will last for about two years. If it also gets success in this, then this vaccine can become an important weapon towards eliminating malaria across the country. ICMR and other health institutions are working continuously on this so that it can be transported to the people as soon as possible.
Why is malaria still a big danger?
Epidemic expert Dr. Jugal Kishore It is said that in many parts of India, especially in rural and tribal areas, malaria is still a common but dangerous disease. According to the World Health Organization (WHO)- Malaria cases in India may have decreased in the last few years, but still thousands of deaths are caused by it every year. Plasmodium falciparum type malaria is the most severe, as it can cause rapid damage to blood cells and organs. This is the reason that the construction of a vaccine is considered a big achievement for this particular type of malaria.
