Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani said on Thursday that the world economy may be growing at a slow pace, but India is developing rapidly. He says that India is not only performing better than the global slowdown, but self-reliance in essential technologies and strategic industries will be very important to maintain rapid growth in the coming years.
Ambani was addressing the 13th convocation of Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), where he is also the chairman of the university’s governing body. He said that at present the world economy is growing at a speed of less than 2%, while India is growing at a speed of about 8%. According to him, there is uncertainty and lack of trust in the world, but India is full of hope, energy and confidence.
Dependence on foreign technology will have to be reduced
He acknowledged that increasing geopolitical tensions are creating new challenges for India’s development journey. In such a situation, the country will have to reduce its dependence on foreign technology and supply chain. He said, India will now have to become self-reliant and self-reliant (Atmanirbhar) in essential technologies and big industrial sectors. This is important to secure and accelerate the direction of our development.
Addressing students and researchers, Mukesh Ambani said that now is the time for India to move towards global leadership, especially in those areas which will give direction to the future economy. He asked, are we ready to include PDEU among the best universities in the world in terms of green energy, green materials and green economy? Expressing confidence in the potential of the youth, he said that India’s biggest strength is its youth. The greatest energy in the world is provided by the patriotic youth of the country. PDEU students will support Vikas Bharat’s journey
Referring to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ambani said that in the coming times, PDEU and its students will play a big role in the development of India. He said, we promise that we will make India feel more proud and take PDEU to greater heights in the coming years. This speech has come at a time when India is strongly maintaining its growth projections despite global economic challenges and is rapidly moving towards self-reliance in important sectors.
