It is estimated that more than 1.33 lakh tonnes of gold reserves are present under the ground, which can be a big step towards including the state among the leading mineral producing states of the country.
How and where were the gold reserves found? After detailed geological survey and tests in Chakaria area of Singrauli, it has become clear that there is availability of huge amount of gold in an area of about 23.57 hectares. Experts believe that about 1 lakh 76 thousand 600 grams of pure gold can be extracted from this mineral wealth. This discovery will not only be economically beneficial for the state, but it is also being considered a remarkable achievement at the national level.
Who got the responsibility of mining? To commercialize this valuable gold mine, the state government has completed the auction process of Chakaria Gold Block. Adani Group company Garima Natural Private Limited has achieved success in this process. The company will work on a plan to extract about 18,536 tonnes of gold in the next 5 years. For this, state-of-the-art machinery and technology will be used.
Will Madhya Pradesh become ‘Mineral State of India’? Expressing enthusiasm over this achievement, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has said that this discovery is a historic step towards making the state the ‘Mineral State of India’. He also said that this is only a beginning, in the times to come Madhya Pradesh will emerge as one of the richest mineral regions of the country.
Not just gold, Singrauli is a treasure of minerals. The geographical structure of Singrauli district is rich in mineral resources. Indications of presence of minerals have also been found in areas like Misirgwan Iron Block, Gurhar Pahar, Silfori, Sidhar, Amilhwa and Sonkurwa. From this it is clear that this area will be known not only for coal but also for other valuable minerals.
Expectation of increase in revenue and employment The state government hopes that the mining project will not only significantly increase revenue but also create new employment opportunities for the local people. Within the next one year, companies will start mining work with their preparations, which will also boost regional development.
