For a long time, the Renault Triber had one problem. It could seat seven, but the engine struggled the moment they all got in. Now Renault has finally fixed it, and the fix comes with a turbo. With the turbo in its seven-seat configuration, it becomes the cheapest option to own. The turbo petrol engine is offered with three trims of this seven-seater: Evolution, Techno, and Emotion, all with a five-speed manual gearbox. The turbo costs Rs 94,000 to Rs 1.11 lakh more than the equivalent petrol variants without a turbo. Here’s the on-road price list of all three turbo petrol variants of the model

For its seven-seater MPV, Renault carries over the 1.0-litre turbo petrol mill offered in its two SUVs: Kiger and Duster. However, there has been some re-tuning that lifts the torque to 180 Nm, which is 20 Nm more than its siblings, keeping the power figure the same at 99 bhp. Renault claims a 0- 100 km/h time of 10.8 seconds and a mileage of 21kmpl. A CVT is expected to follow later, so if you want an automatic, you will have to wait.

Apart from the addition of the turbo petrol engine, there has been no addition in the features department, nor any design changes. Notable features include an 8-inch infotainment unit, digital driver’s display, wireless phone charger, automatic AC, and more.

For safety, it gets six airbags (as standard), ABS with EBD, ESC, traction control, hill-start assist, Isofix mounts and a tyre-pressure monitoring system. The Triber’s flexible seating and 625-litre boot (third row removed) remain the car’s biggest strengths.
