According to a media report, Russian spirits exports to India have increased almost four times in the first 10 months of this year compared to the same period last year, making India an attractive emerging market for Russian exporters. Citing data from the Federal Agricultural Export Development Center (Agroexport) of the Russian Agriculture Ministry, leading financial and business daily newspaper “Vedomosti” said India is emerging as an attractive market for Russian exporters of vodka and other hard alcoholic beverages.
4 times increase in Russian liquor
The report said that in the first 10 months of 2025, Russian spirits producers exported about 520 tonnes of spirits (including vodka, gin, whiskey and liquor) to India, worth US$900,000. This is three times more in terms of weight and four times more in monetary terms compared to the same period last year. Agroexport claims that the main driver of exports was vodka. In monetary terms, the value of its exports in these 10 months was approximately US$760,000.
India’s share in Russian wine
Although India ranked only 14th among the largest importers of Russian wine from January to October, with a share of 1.3 per cent in terms of tonnes and 1.4-1.5 per cent in terms of revenue, exports to Russia had the highest growth rate. Other major importers of Russian wine include Kazakhstan, Georgia, China, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Belarus.
