The Indian women’s cricket team is set to clash with in the final of the 2026 Asian Games on Tuesday at Korogi Sports Park.
With a strong desire to secure their second consecutive gold medal, the Indian squad is in formidable form. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, is eager to avenge their defeat in the 2026 Asia Cup final.
India has showcased exceptional performance throughout the tournament. In the semifinals, Harmanpreet Kaur and her team dominated Bangladesh, winning by 114 runs to secure their spot in the final. Shafali Verma has maintained her outstanding form from the Asia Cup, scoring a remarkable 100 runs off just 49 balls against Bangladesh.
Smriti Mandhana has also been in excellent form, while captain Harmanpreet Kaur contributed significantly with a brisk 40 runs off 33 balls. The bowling duo of Shikha Pandey and Deepti Sharma has been reliable, and fast bowlers Nandini Sharma and Kranti Gaur are also performing well.
Sri Lanka reached the final by defeating Pakistan by eight wickets in their semifinal. They easily chased down a target of 178 runs, losing only two wickets. Chamari Athapaththu has been in great rhythm, scoring 83 runs off 50 balls in the semifinals, while Hasini Perera added a quick 42 runs off just 26 balls.
The pitch at Korogi Sports Park has proven to be excellent for batting, offering good bounce and making it easier for batters to score runs. Historically, India and Sri Lanka have faced each other in 31 T20 internationals, with India winning 25 matches and Sri Lanka claiming victory in five, while one match ended in a tie.
