Destination wedding emerges as a major trend in 2025. “In fact, one in four weddings in 2025 was a destination event,” Mehak Shahani, co-founder of WedMeGood, said in a PTI report.

The craze of destination wedding was especially seen in ultra-premium weddings. Shahani further said, “More than 60 per cent of weddings with budgets above Rs 1 crore were destination celebrations. Last year, the average spend of a destination wedding was around Rs 51.1 lakh, but this will increase to around Rs 58 lakh in 2025.”

Popular destinations in India included Jaipur, Goa, Dehradun, Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Shimla, Jim Corbett, Udaipur, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur. Whereas for international weddings, couples preferred Bali, Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia.

Vinod Kumar Sah, Co-Founder and CTO of CoTrav, explained how the budget of luxury destination weddings is made. He told PTI, “Based on our experience of around 60 luxury destination weddings this year, the budget of a five-star destination wedding today is usually more than Rs 3 crore. These budgets have a clear structure, with 20-25 per cent spent on premium venues, 10-15 per cent on travel for guests and family, and around 10 per cent on artistes, performers and crew logistics. The remaining 50-60 per cent A percentage is spent on decoration, food, planning and celebration.”
